I found players are really bad in those. but you cant win much - again you don't risk anything

Yep, you are right ... you wont lose anything, so you can keep trying, one time you will win something and you can start building your bankroll :))

i think there are too much donks playing in freerolls so you have not really a chance to win something with good poker its 99% luck

Just like the guy above said, to much donks in freerolls, winning a freeroll is not likely and even if you do, the 10$ aren't really worth the 5 hour play. But that's just my opinion. Regards, King

You have to have a lot of patience when you are playing freerolls to build up your br, even if u cash once or twice you cant spend the money, and have to keep playing freerolls till you have a reasonable ammount that would allow to survive a variance on cash games or sngs.

in my opinion you can build a nice starting bankroll from freerolls but in most cases it is worthless if you don't have the skill necessary to keep and expand your bankroll. When i started playing and got a lot of free cash from freerolls or (mostly) bonuses from different sites, i lost all of it. I say if you are frequently winning at freerolls, not just a day or two, you should try some pay tournaments low cost, or small cash games.

This is a great way to learn the fundamentals of tournaments. Cause the fields are large when u do get to the final table u will have practice playin large/small stacks with very large blinds. Freerolls are a risk free way to tone your tournament skills.
Tip: Play super tight during the first hour, you will see a large percentage of the field will be eliminated.
But its not the best way to build a bankroll. Its very time consuming for a small pay out. Playing micro stakes and cheap sitn go's are the way to go when building a bankroll.

how good are freerolls to build a BR?

How good is the freerolls to start a bankroll?

I say in my opinion it is a very good way to start a bankroll just by playing/winning on freeroll tournaments.you can make it grow as much (high) as you can.I have done that.:cool:If you manage to start a good bankroll from scratch (aka freerolls).it is a good way to make a descent cash without ever have to spend your own money...
BUT then every player has his/her own unique way of building their own Bankroll.i mean we all play different on the tables, and we all manage our own bankroll differently...
Limit yourself on how much you can spend a day on cash tables,SnG and tournaments etc.
I play as much freerolls as i can.I keep all the money on my main account so i can't spend it.Everytime i hit 400 or more i cash out 3 quarters of it,which leave me just enough to try and make it grow again.... (That's just me tho)I'm not saying you have to do what i do...

Use your money wisely...;)

i thinks it depend of how many money there is to win.. I dont think 30 dollars is worth 4 hours of play

30 dollars is pretty good I think, think about those freerolls (for example triobet.com "50 euro night express") there is 1000 players, and only ten wins money - 5 euros each, that is really worse than 30 dollars after four hours play :)

Freerolls are much as a waste of time if u are not patient and wait the good cards. I prefer it tho cause i have no money yet in my account

I agree with with alot that ImperialCaesar said freerolls are a great way to learn how to play tournaments because in tournaments you must play a different strategy as the tournament advances and the blinds get higher you need to start trying to steal them to survive unless you have a really really big stack..... I also agree with what HUSTLEZ said about bankroll management.... when you get a decent amount cash out about 75% of it and grow it again... i learnt this the hardway when i first started playing online poker for real money i made a small deposit of $15 within two days i had my bankroll over $350 from just multi-tabling $3.30 sit n go's and ranking high in $2 and $3 tournament ( on pokerstars) but then i got greedy and jumped up a few stakes when i wasnt ready to play on them stakes yet doing sit n go's & tournaments around $30 and cash games at $1,$2 lost a fair bit real fast and then got abit angry and its not good to play poker when your angry there was alot of all-in'ing from me and i ended up losing all of the $350+ in about 4 hours.....

But back to the main topic yes freerolls are okay to start building your bankroll if you don't want to deposit any of your own money but you have to be pretty patient because there is alot of bad players in freerolls that just go all in pre flop all the time so just be patient at the start fold all your crappy hands and only play and even call peoples all-in preflop with your high pocket pairs or you A,K A,Q ect, but if you just play smart and patient more then half the field will be gone in no time once the blinds start getting high and theres about or less then 50% of the field left start trying to steal some blinds when you can in late positions and try to represent the flop and turn and even the river when you can look for weaknesses in your opponents and look for perfect moments for when you can exploit their weaknesses and before you know it you will be in there won't be many people left, you will have made it to the cash... do that a few times get like $30 or so from freerolls then start playing some micro stakes sit and go's and cash games to build your bankroll even more...
sorry about the novel..

also in a freeroll towards the start of the tournament if your in late position and there has been about 4 or 5 people ( maybe even 3 but no lower then 3) all go all in, and you look at your cards and you see something like 2,3 2,4 3,4 5,6 preferebly suited but doesnt have to be.... sometimes it can be worth calling their all-ins because alot of the time all these all in people have something like A-K A-Q A-J K-Q Q-J (ect) ok for example 1 person has gone all in and 3 others have called, one has A-K one has K-J one has Q-J and the last has A-Q, alot of them are all chasing the same cards and some of them have a same whole card... the point im getting at here is that they all have high/same cards so there is more chance and probability that the flop will contain alot of low cards.... now this doesn't always happen but I have seen it happen quite alot... so if your prepared to take the risk and jump on in with them it can be quite rewarding to your chip stack taking 4 other peoples stacks.

i think they are a good way to start your bankroll, yes there is a lot of bad play at the start but if you can hang in there for first hour most of the bad players have gone, as for calling with 3-4to 7-8 etc there is plenty doing that already so it doesnt always work .

Freerolls are a good way of gaining experience, but due to the low level of poker being played in most freerolls, it is very hard to build a BR. You will often lose with the best hand. Poker is not poker when nothing is at stake.

I don't have much experience and I think it is very hard, especially when there is 2000 players, and only 3 of them get prize:):D
